877 charging system

I don't think my generator is putting out enough voltage battery keeps going dead can anybody help me get the wiring schematic for that older 8 horse generator/. starter what voltage should I have going to the battery when it's running

The first step in correcting any electrical problem is to have the battery load tested and clean and tighten all electrical connections including grounds.With the engine operating at half throttle or above you should read about 14 volts DC at the battery.

You should get 14 volts or more running at full throttle.

 

Also note the small wire connected to the A terminal on the genny comes from under the Regulator (if it is original)
