WHwest8597 85 #1 Posted November 20, 2017 I need to repair the flange that attaches the muffler to the engine. Do I need anything besides a new gasket to seal things?
953 nut 51,018 #2 Posted November 21, 2017 I would suggest using a tap to clean the threads and a couple of new bolts too.

clem 28 #4 Posted November 21, 2017 Some anti-seize on the threads of the bolts could be helpful for future removal also
artfull dodger 329 #5 Posted November 25, 2017 Highly recommend the Anti Seize, can I say that again as a professional small engine mechanic. Put Anti Sieze on the bolts! But yes, chase the threads out with a bottoming style tap, new gasket and reinstall and torque to book spec. After a couple of heat cycles, retorque the bolts as they will tend to back out a touch after a few heat cycles and can lead to the gasket burning thru.
