DennisThornton 4,769 #1 Posted November 12, 2017 I'd like to extend the functionality of my travel trailer into the winter. Keystone Sprinter if that helps any. There's no insulation underneath and all single pane windows so I will be a challenge to prep for 20 below! Big slider will be a big heat loss as well. Wondering if someone here has thoughts or experience in winter RVing, especially tips and tricks insulating.

ebinmaine 62,350 #3 Posted November 12, 2017 (edited) Assuming you want to keep it in the same place... I've never done this myself but seen it quite a few times up here in Maine... Lots of folks do this. One thing I had to learn the hard way: Insulation is a concern but Air movement is bigger. STOP the air from moving in and out of the camper. Don't try to keep moving air warm (or cold). So: Pick up some of the plastic window insulating heat shrink stuff from a box/home improvement store. Put this on the inside And outside of all the windows. You may need foam double sided tape for the outside. Buy a bunch of the Least expensive square hay bales you can find. Hang a sheet of Poly or a tarp (poly usually cheaper by the roll) all the way around the bottom of the outside using aforementioned foam tape...... then stack hay against it as tight to each other as possible. You may also need to heat the Underside some to keep water from freezing. You can also ( and REALLY should) put a full tarp over the top if you haven't already. this stops sun and moisture from getting to the roof. A concern all year but really sucks to deal with leaks when the roof is still half covered with ice... Hope this helps. Additionally: My honey just reminded me that a black/dark tarp will absorb and utilize the sun... ( for more free heat.)
