What is Bar for on tiller ?

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

My previous tiller was a 1993 model and did not have this flat bar on it.  I am placing ona 1993. 314  eight speed.  What was this bar for?  Not shown in older or newer manual.  Looks like could be alternative place to put lift assist spring rather than eyebolt.  I might remove as it comes close to rear gas tank .

What bar are you talking about? What I've circled?  That's the lift point..... the eyebolt is where the lift assist spring would go.

I'm thinking some one didn't want to use a long chain ...or used that as "transport" mode or for extra weight while plowing snow ...Jeff.

Jason:  Does the  chain go on the bar from the rear rock shaft with a  clvis and pin???

Not sure how you'd adapt that to one with an under-seat rockshaft...  this style was for the older tractors.....  Took me the last 15 minutes... but finally found a pic of mine mounted....

Jason:   Do you have a picture you can send me of the tension spring on the idler arm to frame of your tiller tractor?

My idler  has the spring tension arm in front and at an angle.   So it is suppose to be attached to a bolt in the front (second hole) of the tractor frame.
