Stormin 9,975 #1 Posted October 17, 2017 Athelia or whatever your hurricane was called paid a visit this morning at 5am. Got the tree off the roof with not to much trouble. Cutting it up bit by bit. Trouble came when getting from roof to ladder later, when I missed my footing. Though I didn't fall, took skin off my left elbow and accidently kicked SWMBO who was holding the ladder in the face. Fortunately for me no damage done. Somehow though I have pulled a muscle or ligament in my right leg. Maybe now my neighbour will do something about the rest of the tree.

You do have a lot of sucking up to do once your leg heals up.
WHX?? 46,730 #8 Posted October 17, 2017 Ya know Norm you could have saved me the look up.... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=SWMBO hilarious Had the same thing happen to my horse barn this year..... same part of roof and everything. Even neighbor's dead oak tree that I been about for years. Insurance paid quite well tho & all I had to buy was some eave and rake trim. Actually made out like a bandit Interesting roof material ya got there tho, looks to be a 5 or 6/12 pitch too! 3
Stormin 9,975 #9 Posted October 17, 2017 The roof tiles are precast concrete, Jim.
Sarge 3,462 #10 Posted October 18, 2017 I saw that forecast on the The Weather Channel - a hurricane heading into Ireland/UK is sure odd to see . Hope everything turns out ok - lot of folks have taken such a hard hit this season with all those big ones . Very interesting roofing - how heavy are those pre-cast pieces ? They look fairly thick , too...? Sarge
Stormin 9,975 #11 Posted October 18, 2017 Not all that heavy, Sarge, and about 3/4 to an inch thick.

That's how my father-in-law refers to his wife, except I'm sure he doesn't know there's an abbreviation for it. I have no idea how he's gotten away with it for 60+ years.

Stormin 9,975 #15 Posted November 19, 2017 Insurance sorted very quickly and builder came a.s.a.p. Roof repaired in 5 days after the storm. Just wish my leg was as quick. Regaining full movement seems to be taking forever. Tried driving my Disco for the first time in 5 weeks yesterday. Only went 3 miles to a friends farm. Was in agony when I got there. Ditto when I drove back. I'm getting serious workshop withdrawal symptoms. 1
