Restore a B80?

Recommended Posts

Junkers88

Times getting short concerning our move to suburbia and since the B80 is still sitting in the yard I got to thinking. Would it be worth it to send it to someone that knows these tractors (if you have someone in mind in Texas let me know 😀) and have it restored? New ones about this size are expensive! I'd rather throw $500 or so towards getting this one back up to snuff. I don't really care about the paint, as it has that patina that I like.

If I had time and know-how I'd do it myself, alas I have neither.

Thoughts?

Richard.

If your not worried about cosmetics and are unsure of your know how, then I would get an estimate for a mechanical resto. Then you will have number to decide if it is worth it to you. Most times even a free tractor can go over value during a resto.

If your budget is $ 500 you will probably be able to have the engine or transaxle done professionally, but not much more.

Daniel Implement is no more.....The Kubota dealer that bought him out trashed all the remaining NOS parts and advertising he had several years ago (much to my chagrin)

If the engine runs OK,I doubt it needs a rebuild. If it goes forward and reverse,I doubt the tranny needs to be rebuilt.I would :

Change all fluids.

Change air filter.

Change spark plug.

Change ignition points and condenser.

Rebuild carburetor.

Change entire rubber gas line. And install new fuel filter.

If tires don't hold air....change them.

Most expensive thing I mentioned here are 4 tires. The rest of the items are in-expensive and I'm sure you could do most of the work yourself. If not.everyone here likes to help.Me included.
