"Manic-Mechanic" 1,192 #1 Posted August 4, 2017 I was blessed with finding a machine shop with excellent tig welding experience, Machine Specialties,Chbg, PA. Now my question is can I simply replace the majority of gaskets and not tear down the engine? I didn't have any smoke on this block however, should it be rebuilt while off the tractor?

"Manic-Mechanic" 1,192 #4 Posted August 4, 2017 I was concerned about how the oil accumulated outside the block, perhaps the valve cover gaskets? So, before putting her back together, what gaskets could be installed to help alleviate the ongoing leakage? I am not too familiar with k482 other than the service manual....... Sarge 3,462 #5 Posted August 5, 2017 Most likely , if it has oil around the top half of the engine , it's the valve cover gaskets - they are available new as I just replaced mine this spring . I'd get in there with the manual , new gaskets and adjust those valves . Not a bad idea at this time to inspect the cylinders and de-carbon the pistons as well . "Manic-Mechanic" 1,192 #6 Posted August 5, 2017 Excellent. I will follow through and do exactly that, with the manual as well. I have the gasket kit for the whole block but, a total rebuild isn't needed. Thanks Oldman
