Electro12WH 50 #1 Posted July 1, 2017 Someone asked me to identify this tractor, (don't let the paint fool you.) I thought it was a 953, but the divided headlight surround has me stumped.
rjg854 10,708 #2 Posted July 1, 2017 Kinda has a 953 look
12 hp Kohler 1,014 #3 Posted July 1, 2017 I think it might be a mix between a 953 and a gt14 and a cub cadet, or they had a wheel horse and they wanted to make it look like a cub so they modified it and painted it
953 nut 51,519 #4 Posted July 2, 2017 I don't think it has any in the family tree of that tractor. A few larger photos may help, but the grill and front axle are not 953 or GT-14.
Electro12WH 50 #5 Posted July 2, 2017 It is missing the left side guard in front of the fender. That might throw you.
Uncle Buck 246 #6 Posted July 2, 2017 How can you tell anything. The image is the size of a postage stamp!
Electro12WH 50 #7 Posted July 2, 2017 Sorry! I can enlarge the photo at the original site, but when I tranfered it here, it brought all the dialog with it.

Try doing a "Right Click" on the image, select copy then paste it on here.
Electro12WH 50 #11 Posted July 2, 2017 Thank you, sir. When I right clicked, I was only given the choice of 'select all'. Any who, does the enlargement help any?
19richie66 16,880 #12 Posted July 2, 2017 I don't know what it is but I like it!
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,337 #13 Posted July 2, 2017 It has a 953 grill and hood, but the fender deck is from a Cub Cadet. Seems to be a 953 with a different fender deck.
Electro12WH 50 #14 Posted July 2, 2017 For comparison, I include this photo of a 1054. Notice the fender is the same, as is the front axle. The brake pedal is in the right position, but the left side shield is missing. The running board is homemade. The grille shell is the same overall shape but the area around the headlights is different. But what about the bar between the headlights? All the 953 I can find have the WH decal between the lights. Is there a CC with a grille like that? 2 hours ago, T-Mo said: It has a 953 grill and hood, but the fender deck is from a Cub Cadet. Seems to be a 953 with a different fender deck. Lee1977 6,211 #15 Posted July 2, 2017 I believe your looking at A Montgomery Ward Gilson.
Electro12WH 50 #16 Posted July 3, 2017 It looks similar. I think the guy has the makings of a nice custom. I suppose the engine will tell if it is a 953 or a 1054, right?
dells68 7,494 #17 Posted July 3, 2017 Don't see any DNA there. If you look closely, the fender pan, foot rests, shifter and all are different than a 953 or 1054.
Electro12WH 50 #18 Posted July 3, 2017 The cast front axle is the same as is the hood w/ the mounting bolt. The curve of the dash is the same. The foot rest is homemade.
