I think a candle would be about as good as the factory lights. Now those led's look great. Hopefully they will last a while. Very nice Mike!

I ran it for 10 min tonight. The whole area gets pretty hot from the exhaust itself. I turned the lights off and kept it running for a few min more and didn't feel that the lens area cooled at all so I would say the bulbs don't get hot. I will do more testing in the next few days.

Ran the lights 10 min without the engine running. Lens stayed cool to the touch.

Those are probably using the big metal base as a heatsink, which is in contact with the metal bulb socket, which is in contact with the sheetmetal of the hood... It might not even get warm to the touch. (LEDs can produce heat, but they radiate it back through the electronic components and leads, not the front that we think of as the "bulb".)

I recently put these on my plow tractor. They fit the hole, but were loose, so I shimmed with fuel line.

I like these because the lens area is small, and it all shines thru the headlight bezel.

My tractor now has brighter headlights than my car.

bought on that auction site at a reasonable price.

sorry don't have night photo

PAR 38

The PAR is the style of bulb - parabolic aluminized reflector

38 is the diameter in 8th's - 38 divided by 8 = 4.75 = 4-3/4"

Just recently learned this about bulbs - slower learner

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "Check out these Squonkin' lights"? :laughing-rolling:  they do look nice though!
