Tanker toy

Just getting back into pulling. I ran and older c-120 years ago. Will a 312-8 make a good starter tractor for my son to start with? And will the uni drive tranny hold up to beginner pulling and how far can I go before I. Have to beef it up? Thanks for your help

hello.  I'm using a 308-8 with a 14 hp kohler stock with a milled head.  I still is a great stock puller for me with no ugly gremlins popping up yet. I have heard of the plate that the transmission bolts to can crack, at this time mine doesn't have that issue.  I had to use a different fuel tank and location for it due to my pulling hitch interfering with the under seat-pan fuel tank.I enjoy pulling it as it just feels like it was made to do just that.  Hope your son enjoys pulling it.

Also this site can be useful:  Introduction to the Sport of Garden Tractor Pulling!

There is a lot of love for cub cadets there, but engine stuff is useful..

The C 120-8 and 312-8 are the same tractor for all intents and purposes.

Depending on the year. Pre toro 312-8 tractors had a 1" rear. Toro 312-8 tractors have a 1 1/8" rear

Is it legal and safe to move the fuel cell to front of tractor frame?

Yes you can. Has to be a metal tank. But check with your club too
