ScottR 5 #1 Posted June 23, 2017 Good morning all, I have a 1993 314-8 that misses (skips) intermittently. I've pulled the carb and cleaned it, checked the solid state ignition, installed new spark plug, adjusted the carb under load but still have the problem. The only thing on the carb that may be suspect is the throttle shaft can be moved ever so slightly back and forth, more than the shaft on my M12 that runs perfectly. I've tried putting a few drops of gear oil at the base of the shaft to seal it but that didn't make a difference. Would a slightly worn throttle shaft bushing cause my problem? Is there something else I should check? I appreciate any suggestions and hope those of you attending the show have safe travels and good weather. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,488 #2 Posted June 23, 2017 Try some Marvel Mystery oil in the fuel. It will lube the valve stems and help them close every time they should. I think they tend to hang open sometimes and that creates a spit out the exhaust. Works for me. Have some worn throttle shafts but that does not seem to affect the running. ScottR 5 #3 Posted June 23, 2017 Thanks, I will try it. It will be sweet if Mystery oil solves the problem. Scott
