I had to do something similar on my 1979 c-101 a few years back, she is as good as new now, realy better than new.:handgestures-thumbupright:

This is a definite weak point, same thing happened to my Work Horse GT-1800. I had to do the same thing you did.

I've repaired many Horses the same way.When I got one of my 312-8's,the seat was bent so far back that I had to remove the uprights between the gas tank and straighted them out.I guess it didn't bother the previous owner sitting on a rocking chair while mowing.

I also have repaired two of these, cut out the broken area, weld in a new piece with a nut and add a gusset for strength.

Craig, Wow!  I wish I had your tools and skills.  Welding is one level beyond me.  I can do nuts and bolts - epoxy once in a while - that's it.  Nice job!
