Quick attach front weight bracket

Recommended Posts

Do we have any vendors on red square that make a front weight bracket compatible with the quick attach system. I have a 73 16h hydro. When moving my trailers around I get some wheel lift and would like at add a weight bracket.

Prob get some suitcase weights, alternatively I have a couple pcs of 3" solid cold rolled steel I could try to incorporate into the front weight

thanks

toro did sell a front weight that was to be used to counter the weight of a rototiller. I believe it is discontinued.

It’s been a long time coming, I get ideas but it’s just a matter of making the time to make them work.

so I’ve often found hauling things I needed more weight up front. A couple years again a neighbor gave me 3 bars of solid cold rolled steel about 3-1/2” in diameter. They were used in a salt water environment and I believe they were weights of some type for lobster pots or drag lines....can’t recall. The quick attach mount was acquired via a bay seller whom happens to be local and fabs several different types of hitches. The bar pictured is the smallest and in total weighs about 60lbs. My only regret is not being persistent enough with another buddy to get it turned down a bit to remove all the pitting. Welded on the 2” square tube adapter last weekend, followed by a coat of self etching primer, black rustoleum truck bed liner then several top coats of rustoleum regal red. I applied a 3m reflective tape which I may regret due to the pitting and non smooth surface, we’ll see if it lasts. Hopefully if it peels it doesn’t take the paint with it. Alternatively it can be moved to the rear for when additional traction is needed. So now what to do with the other 3 bars....

There’s a cat on eBay that sells front receiver hitches. I had some scrap angle and box laying around that I made into a front weight bracket. I made it large enough to hold two 42 pound weights. I use it to counterbalance my sprayer which I use on the back of my tractor and it works pretty well.
