Searcher60 208 #1 Posted May 14, 2017 Perhaps someone knows of a testing agency where I, or someone else could send an aftermarket piston and connecting rod and have them analyzed for size and type of alloy?
stevasaurus 22,229 #2 Posted May 14, 2017 A good machine shop should be able to size it for you...probably for free. They may also be to tell you what it is made of, or know where to go to find out.
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,044 #3 Posted May 14, 2017 Try the NAPA place on Chamberlayne Ave in Richmond Va , I think that is who handles small engines , Rebuilds , boring etc .I think @JAinVA had some work done there. They were recommended by a local machine shop that only handles bigger stuff.
Howie 882 #4 Posted May 15, 2017 I think you are talking about some kind of lab to check the alloy of the piston. A machine shop can measure for you but not check the alloy. Don't know where you could find one of those. Seems to me they would have to have a chunk of a piston to check that.
