TT

If the Kohler has an externally-mounted automotive-style 12 volt ignition coil, then it must have a battery.

Most Tecumseh engines (some Kohlers too) have a magneto to produce spark - which do not require a battery.

Replacement carburetors are available new, but can sometimes be rather expensive depending on the model & size.
