eibbed 60 #1 Posted January 27, 2009 Gentlemen, Just the other day I noticed a small spring loaded 1/4" cap on one end of my starter generator. Am I supposed to put oil in it and if so, what grade, how much and how often? I looked on line and in my small engine repair book but couldn't find any information addressing the subject. Docwheelhorse 2,560 #2 Posted January 27, 2009 Hi--yes it is for oil, I don't know how much or what---My old "retired" oil burner had a similar cap on the electric motor that drove the water pump. It said to put 2-3 drops of a good machine oil (3n1--comes to mind) Once a month during heating season..... I would think your starter generator wouldn't be harmed by adding a drop or two.
