Throttle bar

Recommended Posts

Porkchop87

I'm trying to see if anyone knows what I'm talking about. I am looking for the bar that is on top of the carb, it goes from my throttle linkage to the carb. It was maybe 4 inches long. I lost it cutting grass. It runs, just not well.

Do you mean the rod or wire that goes from the governor arm to the carb??  This one is an adjustable rod, some models used a heavy bent wire.  What Model and spec number engine do you have

I've got a 414-8 and it was just like you say a heavy wire. I know it's a Kohler. That's about it.

Early 414-8 came with a K series Engines later with a Magnum.  can you find the Spec # of the engine.  should be on a sticker.

First pic is K series second Magnum.  The clips at each end are teh same for both models...the wire has a differ net part ##

K series 4707911-s

Magnum 4707910-s

So you need to know which engine.

Did it look like this??  Top right in picture.   If that is what you lost (the bent wire from the governor arm to the carb) I just happen to have an extra one...if you want.  :)

Or you could make one out of brass stock.

The ends were bent, but not like that. Some plastic clips were securin the ends. I'm going to go look at it as soon as the rain slacks up

I think the later big block K's and the magnums used a simpler bend.  right angle at each end but 90 degrees out of phase and used the plastic clips to hold them to the carb and governor arm.  What i can't figure (or explain) is why the different part number for K series vs Magnums???  Different length???   Nothing to making one out f wire stock with the simpler bends at the end but how to determine the length.

Pics are Magnum 12

Edit:  Just checked the Magnum 12 and 14 use the same rod 4707910-s

If you have a Magnum engine i can measure mine and you can make your own replacement   Kohler wants about $7 for bent piece of wire.

That's exactly what I was going to do, but I just don't know what the length would be.

But your pic show exactly what I need pfrederi.

So you have the magnum engine not the K series???  My measurement may not be right if you have the K series
