Hello Jim is building a k341 and is pretty much rebuilding it from acratch.  He got the motor put together today, but now it is so tight the starter cannot turn it over...has anyone here had that issue and if so what do we do to fix it??

We were trying to get the engine built for something 2 weeks from now and this is the last major hurdle...please please please help!!!!

What was your crankshaft end play measurement?  If its too tight it could cause the issue. What was all done in the rebuild?

WHX??

Can you spin the engine by hand? Did he use plenty of assembly grease & motor oil? Something binding somewhere? Connecting rod journal too tight after torqued? Starter up to snuff. Sorry Karen more questions than answers  at this point but things to check.

The motor was taken down to nothing, taken to a machine shop to have the bolts taken out and cleaned, he got a  new stock cam shaft and the crank and piston are original to the engine.  It git all new gaskets he fixed (we think) the charging system...

His brother who is a mechanic actually stopped by and recommended he turn the bottom part of the (forgive me I am having a brain fart) piston that keeps the cylinder oiled, and it seemed to work, he is now making sure that the piston was not put in backwards...

Is the hole in the cap facing the cam if not the motor will seize the crank in a mater of minutes
