Duramax7man7 505 #1 Posted April 11, 2017 The current 520h I'm working on has the wider rims on it. Can I get some 24 x 12 -12" tires? They are not Carlyle tires so they most likely will match the Carlyle 23 x 10.5 -12" tire dimensions. . They are Destone... The model is: D-265 Turf Tire?
bmsgaffer 2,043 #2 Posted April 11, 2017 The wide 520H rims are only 8.5" wide. You MAY be ok with the deestones since they run small, but i know most recommend 10" rims with 12" wide tires.
Duramax7man7 505 #3 Posted April 11, 2017 I agree. And yes the Destone seem to run smaller. Ill give them a try for the price. I put Destone 23 x 10.5 -12" on my 312-8s rims and the tread is only 8.5" wide and the overall height is 21.5". The 23 x 10.5 -12" Destone super lugs on my 520h (had the smaller rims when I got it) are only 8.5" wide as well but they are 22.5" tall... So the theory based off of this evidence is that the 24 x 12 -12" should be the size of the 23 x 10.5 -12" Carlyles.
Duramax7man7 505 #4 Posted April 11, 2017 (edited) Are 2 ply tires still a good way to go? I can get some Carlisle 23 x 10.5 (True 10.5" wide) -12" @ 2 ply for $70 each Edited April 12, 2017 by Mastiffman
Duramax7man7 505 #5 Posted April 11, 2017 Okay, so I looked up the Deestone D838 series in 24 x 12" -12" and they coming in at 11.4" wide mounted... Figured you all would want to know.
Duramax7man7 505 #6 Posted April 12, 2017 Sorry to pot this again but looking for a quick response... TIA Carlisle 23 x 10.5 (True 10.5" wide) -12" @ 2 ply for $70 each... Good deal?
WVHillbilly520H 10,369 #7 Posted April 12, 2017 2ply "ride" better (and factory) if you really don't have rough or questionable terrain it shouldn't be of problem, but where I roam it's an old pasture field with briars and old broken bottle glass, 4 ply rated is the way I went, a bit tougher but still a decent ride, Jeff.
aHorseofCourse 261 #8 Posted April 12, 2017 I would go with 4 plys unless you just plan on mowing flat ground with it. Any kind of hauling or hills and 4s are the way to go. Prolly the reason they are cheap is because they are only 2s. Just my
Duramax7man7 505 #9 Posted April 14, 2017 Any way possible to stuff a set of 26x12x12 Firestones under the fenders of a 520h with 8.5" rims? Guessing it would need a fender trim?
AMC RULES 36,941 #10 Posted April 15, 2017 You'll definitely need some spacers to raise your fender pan.
Duramax7man7 505 #11 Posted April 15, 2017 LOL- Okay, I'll forget that then.
Duramax7man7 505 #12 Posted April 28, 2017 Ended up getting some new Carlisle Tru-Power 23x10.5-12 4 ply for the 91 520 I'm working on. Check out the Deestone 23x10.5-12 6ply... smh... what a joke.
aHorseofCourse 261 #13 Posted April 28, 2017 Definitely get what you pay for in tires. Those tru powers look awesome!
Duramax7man7 505 #14 Posted April 28, 2017 Yeah I really debated getting them and them and literally looked at all other options in the same size and even tires that run narrower than these but up a level (24") and I just kept circling back to these. Then I got a littler extra money and said skip it. I'm pulling the trigger. Very happy with them and at 4 ply they barely need any PSI. Albeit I have them with 10psi in them. Such a difference when compared to the DeeStones... smh.
