GT-14 wiring mess part 2

Recommended Posts

The more I think about it and look at what I found so far, the more I think I should get rid of all the electronics and go with conventional points, condenser, and coil and also go with a 15 amp charging system. Here is part 1 of my problem:

Here are all the pictures of what I found so far, in the last two pictures there is a black wire that was behind the flywheel that was disconnected. The other end of the wire goes to the bottom of the coil and to the little black box (trigger I guess?) that mounts at the 10:00 or 11:00 position next to the flywheel. Does anyone have the necessary parts I need to convert to points and a 15 amp charging system?

Its a mess indeed but at this point actual engine may also be a mess. You should then in the very least take the head and pan off and see what it looks like in there before you go through the trouble and expense in converting an engine to points just to find out that more serious stuff is wrong with it. There are K321s out there running for a reasonable price. It all depends how much time ,money and effort you want to spend with that one.You still don't know how the hydro is also, and that could make or break the whole thing. I believe the easiest thing right now without spending any money and with the least effort is to see if there is spark from that system. Not too difficult.Refer to my answer to your last post on thread #1. If there is spark you can at least start engine and check everything else. If not you then have bigger decisions to make.It all comes down to common sense, time and money. I have been guilty in the past of not having enough of the first one and too much of the other two.

I was thinking about putting this brush guard on my ‘69 GT-14. So much for thinking.. I don’t really care for it..
Original thought was it would look cool & help protect that exposed fuel tank.
.  Pretty sure I’m going to abort on this project.
      Back to the drawing board..
Yes, I know, wrong hood decals for ‘69..
This hood is off a ‘70 I had.

also, is it 14” or 15”?

Looking for NICE Clean GT-14 steering wheel
      (3 spoke) like this one.
could also use new dash plate.
I like the ones Glen P. Has, but the raised white letters aren’t painted. Not sure how to go about doing that.
Please text me if you have a steering wheel or clean dash plate for sale or know anyone that does.
      Thanks,

      Another GT-14 in the Herd.
Not perfect, but it runs & drives.
      Doesn’t smoke.
New carb & fuel pump. New tires.
I have a super nice seat for it.
We’ll see what becomes of this one.
