I picked up some parts at the big show last year for this project. All the sheet metal I acquired needs some tlc and a little modification. My idea is to mock everything up then tear it totally down and paint as I put it back together. The hydraulic system I built works very well and is also getting some upgrades.

I picked up a small piece of sheet metal and the edge pieces I had made. Cut the tower stand shape out of a piece of wood and started shaping the sheet metal.

KIMG0660.thumb.jpg.4b6121d0407eb74ae88f4ba6356f8aa6.jpg

then I used a piece of pipe to form the radius, clamped it up and set it in place for a length fit.

KIMG0668.thumb.jpg.1922bff81f29afc3000e04abc93fa087.jpg

had to take a shot from the drivers view.

Thanks Farmer. My new bumper will also be my hydraulic tank, hood support, and hydraulic pump support.

I had a little shop time today so I got the old hydraulic system removed and a hydraulic bath in the process. lol

Then cut off the hood mounting bracket. I checked the new cylinder for travel toro see where to build the mounts. I'm going to use a  hydraulic valve and cylinder that came from a wheel horse.

Now I can start building the mock up.

I made some progress today. Took the lift apart and cut the old cylinder brackets off.

KIMG0689.thumb.jpg.d16943471ec6398350c465f567c8e00c.jpg

I also cut the tunnel and made a bracket to support the belt guard.

KIMG0688.thumb.jpg.c53f728ff77da7f7cc611af24277f1af.jpg

Now I need to extend the belt guard.

Made up some new cylinder mounting brackets.

And I made a ball attachment for my 854 so I can bring some more metal from behind the shop with my yard trailer.

I changed the name of this thread because it really will no longer look like a Raider 12. It is a Raider 12 frame, Hood Stand, and 6 speed transmission,  but has a 73 no name dash, the lift frame is partially from a suburban tractor. The hood was  free that I picked up from the big show. Other parts that I will be using were scrap metal candidates like the fenders, tool box. The seat was picked up at the big show as well as seat spring,. All sheet metal that is being cut was damaged before I got it.  Maybe I should call it ?.

The foot control linkage for the lift valve almost done. The valve tucked in behind the belt cover nice. Now I need to remake the foot plate.

The motor quit like it ran out of gas. It did start up but would only run at idle. I am not good with motors so I was doing some research and I kept getting to the valves so I removed the head.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

Might just need a carb cleaning, that's where I would start. Plugged main jet perhaps?

I cleaned the carb, checked the fuel lines, and fuel pump. I have good gas flow and if I close the choke it will flood.  I checked and reset the points. It looks to me like the valves may not closing properly.

Thanks Richard. I printed both. The gas is spitting out of the carb when it is idling.

I had a class to teach today but still managed to sneak down to the shop to play. Thanks to @farmer for the bumper idea I got my hydraulic tank cut out. I used 4x6x3/16 tube. Now I need to blast all the pieces and start assembly.

Fit test of the bumper/ hydraulic tank before making the pump bracket and hood support. Then on to the hose connections.

I have a question. I looked at the parts diagram and it shows a steering collar with no washers on top above the dash housing.. Mine has 2 washers. Can I eliminate them without causing myself another problem later.I will need to install a bushing in the dash housing to eliminate the play. I want to put the bushing in from the top leaving no space for the washers.

I think I got the washer thing figured out. First I will need a better steering gear.

I moved back to the bumper hood mount supports. A little repair on the hood before I can complete the hood support bracket.

Damage to be cut out.

Sheet Metal left over from the hood extension.

Hood stand bracket and pump bracket welded on and fittings welded in. The sides are welded up. Now I have a lot of grinding to do before final assembly.

And I finally found a good place for the hydraulic filter.KIMG0744.thumb.jpg.30b6caab7154e055fb6e80a422295b85.jpg
