Tankman 3,514 #4 Posted March 26, 2017 Looks great. Does the susoiler tend to dig in deep? Thinking, "Maybe a wheel to set the max depth?"

It all depends how far forward I have the lever. It should if breaks the plow pan that the plow misses. I had the subsoiler with just one tine going down. Then this winter I added the 2 outer ones. Hacksawhero123 351 #6 Posted March 26, 2017 That's pretty similar to the ripper I built. Mine works pretty well

pfrederi 17,042 #10 Posted March 26, 2017 (edited) Where are the rocks?? You guys always show this nice dirt...all i have is clay and rocks. Heck my 40hp Case DC3 has to work to pull a 2 bottom plow. Kid next door was discing a field with a big disk and 140hp JD tractor. the screeching noises of the discs on the rocks was painful to hear. There is another thread about pulling a plugger. i brought one up here with me from VA when I retired. Used it once never got in more than inch or two, with cement blocks on it. too many rocks Edited March 26, 2017 by pfrederi
can whlvr 991 #11 Posted March 27, 2017 nice job on the subsoiler, and pfed is correct about the soil here too,a horse would never pull 2 unalone 3 rippers, but we have lots of clay and rocks, heck my full size skid steer has trouble with the post hole digger lots of the time
Duramax7man7 505 #12 Posted March 29, 2017 @Hacksawhero123 Can we see more detailed photos of your lift piston? That looks interesting.
Hacksawhero123 351 #13 Posted April 7, 2017 Mastiffman, the hitch lift uses a duplicate of the deck lift cylinder mounted almost vertical. I stacked an extra spool valve to operate independently. Fabbed up a bracket to mount to the four bolts on top of the axle
