:text-yeahthat: Now, what is the spec # on the silver engine ID decal?

Here's betting...you've got yourself a series two engine there.

You have a 1983 C-175 Twin with an Eaton 1100-032  according to the serial number.

Hey 953 nut just trying to learn something. How was the year determined?  :confusion-shrug:

If that is the actual spec number then this is a series 1 KT17.  Keep her full up (maybe a bit over) with oil avoid extended running on hills and she will do fine.

I loves them black hoods----

I would just re-stress the comments about your twin engine being a series1 and its oil. When Kohler introduced this twin apparently the engineers designed it on a Monday and overlooked that it didnt like to be operated at a very steep angle:-o However, as mentioned if you are aware of that quirk and carefully maintain the oil - keeping it changed and somewhat overfilled, and especially using good judgement operating it on an incline the engine will give you good service. (actually this advice is pertinent to any engine!) After a couple years? production of the series1, Kohler  came out with the series2 which had a pressured oil system.

I had a C-175 for a period of time and where my property meets the roadway I have a maybe15-20° angle (for the ditch) and the first few times I cut that I was a bit nervous, but, as time went on and the engine didnt blow! I didnt think about it.

From the Kohler factory service manual...for both Series 1, and 2 engines...

the recommended safe operating angles is no more than 30 degrees.

Good day all,

I have belts on the way from the local toro dealer. My question is how to the belts route?

The machine only has drive belts on it and the deck has the belt, so I know how they route.

How does the belt go from the right side pto to the deck? I have done some searching and looking at pictures, but have not seen how the belts run.

Thanks again for helping the noob.

Keith

You will need to have a mule drive which is attached the front and routes the belt to the mower.

This thread is good and if you reverse the steps it will help you in mounting the deck.
