551 Suburban Electrical Help

Thank you.

 

I have another 551 so I bought that part for a spare when you posted it in Spring as rare and available so if that ends up being the culprit I can replace.

That is the way to go if you have one of these tractors and intend to keep it and use it. Many parts in it are unique to this model and pretty rare. I grab whatever shows up when I see it. Another good part to have a spare of is the solenoid.

If the problem is that ground wire it will be easy to repair once you find the break. It usually is where it exits the flywheel into engine. If original it is cloth covered and very brittle. Most of times it actually grounds itself to block and tractor will not start so you may just have a clean break somewhere.
