Skittles, the GT14

Recommended Posts

Ok...... so if I understand this correctly, I can put 5 lug hubs on a gt-14 as long as they are 1-1/8" axles? If so, I'll be putting these on till I can get the factory rims fixed up.

The rainbow signature is awesome!:ROTF:

Now how does one add that to signature?

I like to think of Richie's GT similar to Dolly Pardon's song, and call it "The GT of many colors".

BTW, logo added to your signature.  Unless you wanted the rainbow one?:)

I guess until it's in primer I have to use the "multi-colored" one. Thanks!

  Image result for yup

The hubs will fit , but the tires might be a bit shorter than the present tires.

Maxxis Cerros 26- 11.0 x15  They are UTV radials I had for something else. I knew if I kept them I would get something one day to use them on. Home made 15x10 wheels. Hmm..... monday project!

I like the tires Richie.

If they give good traction in the soil conditions down there, sandy I imagine, then I'd be tempted to run them and use tri ribs on front. Lower the stance a minor amount from stock.

The concern I would have is back spacing and clearance from inside fender.

Me too but If I have to, Ill cut the centers out of the stock wheels and make another set with some 15x10 rim blanks like you have. Way too far away to worry about right now. Got to get it out of it's multi colored coat.

I measured the tire height of the 27-9.50x15's that are on skittles and they measured just less than 26". The ones I am going to use measure out just at 27". While I was measuring the stock ones, I noticed one valve stem hole had some rot around it and the rims are really not that great. These are original tires so they have been on there a while.I am not planning on running tubes. So the plan now is to cut the centers out of the factory wheels and weld them into the ones I made. A lot of work but I have more time than money and the remodel is at a standstill.  Nice thing about this is I can turn the 15" wheels around and this should give me plenty of room for backspacing/clearance. Think I might go with the 5 rib front.

:woohoo:           Do you plan to swap the GT-14 axles into the Eaton? It will be nice to have actual brakes that work won't it. That is my only complaint with my 14, can't just apply the brakes and stop!

EDIT.......(took the eaton out of the plan for now.) Well after remeasuring, it appears there is approx 5" difference in the rear axles, flange to flange. So unless I can get an extra set if 14 axles, Ill just leave it the way it is transmission wise. No big deal for now. Other things to conquer!

If you find a pair of Ford rims with enough offset they will bolt up to the five hole flanges! May have to trim the center holes too.

I have a set of 15x10" rim shells and just need a set of wheel centers. I have a salvage yard near so when I get a chance to go searching Ill give it a go. I would even do a small wheel spacer if needed. We'll see. I appreciate the input!

Finally got a chance to cut up the "organ donor " for skittles. Got the foot control assembly out in one piece and almost have the power steering ready to come out. Removed the front cast iron grille in preparation for the heart transplant. Also got a complete transaxle on the way to snag the axles out of for the eaton 1100. Everything is falling into place. Fingers crossed 🤞

I was wondering if all that green would hold up under all that red.:ychain:

The green Is just a protective coating till it gets painted red. 👍 The donor was a 2005 gx345. I had mowed with it till the deck got bent and I started using the 418-a to mow with. Everything on it cost over $100 to repair so it became an organ donor.
