Sparky-(Admin) 19,284 #1 Posted January 18, 2009 Hey guys. I picked up a snow cab this weekend and am trying to get it mounted to my 416-H. The cab is Model# 87-03CB01 which makes it a 1977-78 unit but the TORO site doesnt show any drawings on it. My question is....how does the frame attach to the rear of the tractor? I have the rest of it figured out but suspect I may be missing a bracket for the rear. Anyone got a pic of how theres is mounted up? Or maybe a copy of a manual? Thanks Mike...... TT-(Moderator) 1,127 #2 Posted January 18, 2009 The last one I owned was a hard top with red canvas sides made for WH by The Original Cab Co. and it had an angled flattened section in the horizontal tube that ran across the back of the fender. There were two bolt holes drilled through the tube, and apparently they thought I was going to drill two holes in my fender to mount the cab! I sold it to a guy who didn't care about his fender.
Sparky-(Admin) 19,284 #3 Posted January 18, 2009 Well thats answers my question. I have that bracket with the 2 angled tabs but theres no holes in the fender pan for it. I quess I have all the parts I need. Thanks, Mike.......
Brrly1 1,146 #4 Posted January 18, 2009 Sparky, Just find another rear fender. Basically pretty easy if you want a cab. Burly
Sparky-(Admin) 19,284 #5 Posted January 18, 2009 Thats what I'm gonna have to do. The paint and decals on this tractor are real nice and drilling the fender is out of the question. It looks like this would fit a 1970's style "C" series better than it fits my 416. To bad as its in real nice shape. Nothings easy. Mike......
Teddy da Bear 11 #6 Posted January 18, 2009 Sparky......don't go to all that trouble. Glue some rubber where the cross tube would touch your fender and marr it (on the tube not on the tractor). Then just use a couple of C clamps to clamp it down. Unfortunately.....the p.o. of my 1054A did not care about the fender and went and drilled the holes on me! TT-(Moderator) 1,127 #7 Posted January 18, 2009 C clamps might work if there wasn't a gas tank under the fender.
Dual Wheels 2 #8 Posted January 19, 2009 The one I have bolts right to the fender using the existing fender bolts...however you have to use the old style fender (70's) that is flat across the top. The rear ridge on the newer one is in the way of the mount...worked perfect on my 416H
Teddy da Bear 11 #9 Posted January 19, 2009 While not familiar with his particular snow cab... C clamps should work if that cross tube comes near the outer edge of the fender as mine does. Gas tanks of the new horses were more centered over the tranny and did not extend too far in width.
TT-(Moderator) 1,127 #10 Posted January 19, 2009 Gas tanks of the new horses were more centered over the tranny and did not extend too far in width. Yeah.... OK. All 9 or 10 of them I have owned had gas tanks that went from the inside of one rear tire across to the inside of the other rear tire and were "U" shaped. At the outer ends were either tail lights or reflectors too. I'm pretty sure Sparky's 416 is just like my two 416's and I really don't see being able to use C clamps. Jim_M 178 #11 Posted January 19, 2009 Sparky, I have the same cab and a 95 416H. I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in the fender either so I welded some new tabs on the cab frame and used the seat mount bolts. Not the bolts that hold the seat on to the flip up plate, but the bolts that hold the bottom plate to the fender. I would get you some pictures, but I didn't put the blower and cab on the 416 this year. I've been using a little 308-8 with a 42" blade and the D-160 with the loader and a 48" grader blade on the 3 point hitch. Jim
