BaySide1 137 #1 Posted February 8, 2017 Ok, recently purchased a 520H from someone here in MA. Got it home and both Headlights are out. Tail lights work fine. undid the harness connection to the headlights and took a reading of 14.4 VAC coming from the engine/tractor. Both lights read open across their contacts. Give a little shake and you can here a rattle. A charging 12 V system should be charging correctly at 14.5 VDC right? Any ideas of what to look at before I replace and maybe have the same issue? or Alternatives such as LED? Thanks, Kevin
Adams94 1,065 #2 Posted February 8, 2017 (edited) If you took an ohm reading and they are open then they definitely are junk, 14.5 is good charging voltage and will be fine. When you get over 15.5 is when batteries can explode. I'm sure they just went out from normal use and vibration. Edited February 8, 2017 by Adams94
Kurt-NEPA 755 #3 Posted February 8, 2017 You should be reading about 14.4 VDC. Not sure why you see VAC, but some some simple rectifiers can put out a pulsed signal that will look like VAC to some meters. Just a thought. For the Light Bulbs. The 520H bulbs are no. PAR36. There are LED bulbs available. See superbrightleds.com
