The motorcycle clutch pack and chain drive is a unique feature. It looks like you have a good basic starting point though.:handgestures-thumbupright:  I will be looking forward to seeing the resto.

Looks like fun.  :handgestures-thumbupright:  Take a look at your B1260 thread.  We have a few Clinton manuals in the Manuals section (engines/0ther).  :occasion-xmas:

After a few months away from the project i've started to strip it down to see what i've got to deal with.

First of all was to remove the hubs which someone had badly tried to fit.

IMG_6214.thumb.JPG.1c2505611769045626bfbf51b4c4749c.JPG

IMG_6208.thumb.JPG.2692166c1af71290676e413dd096df5c.JPG

Someone had drilled many holes in the axles and the keyways were worn.

Next I removed the interesting clutch setup that someone had added.

IMG_6213.thumb.JPG.61e28b98fe718152bdc377617b538b1b.JPG

Then I cut off the front axle that someone had added.

IMG_7627.thumb.JPG.430cada1a9f657125d31ed0e3b36293a.JPG

FullSizeRender.thumb.jpg.54696b984f8a6a97e4baeadf0ab67157.jpg

IMG_7631.thumb.JPG.6072cd235904f891dd5515c920b88c1c.JPG

IMG_7632.thumb.JPG.d1f1ef17a9459a9f6c48bb5fdeac3bc1.JPG

The next job was to weld on the hood stand that someone had cut off.

IMG_7672.thumb.JPG.64b820d9c148dc02bed3cff4d71a0713.JPG

IMG_7701.thumb.JPG.9ae95e216e271c01bdbf2130d50e1c3c.JPG

As you can see it was very twisted so a bit of ingenuity was needed. The front blade of a digger was used to clamp the frame and then a large bar was used. It worked very well! :D

IMG_7705.thumb.JPG.66daeedac0620faa7bbe1dbefd23c23d.JPG

IMG_7691.thumb.JPG.da0d3426eeed1c2b7c8b3361f78346fa.JPG

And with a new column everything lined up well.

The old steering column was bent and someone had done this to the end.

IMG_7706.thumb.JPG.86beeaee61f675b70362817681f6abe0.JPG

Next on the list was to fill the numerous extra holes in the frame and replace bits that had been cut out.

IMG_7690.thumb.JPG.ddca0eeea508f4d5a2237edb34d754e2.JPG

IMG_7692.thumb.JPG.a8d26fc9a3d6037d3fe5c00d3127f234.JPG

IMG_7700.thumb.JPG.91cf398c53a7319cf79715c6701ed4c4.JPG

IMG_7707.thumb.JPG.5725ce3ab4719b25b865ca76b471de12.JPG

Thats all for now, i'll start another thread for the transmission overhaul.

Its been a long time since i posted any updates on the restoration and lots had happened since the last!

IMG_7849.JPG.27f66f161b104d18d75fcb8a35c15560.JPG

The rust from the chassis has been completely removed

IMG_7850.JPG.7b237c5147623b06345e8f39ca90b449.JPG

IMG_7856.JPG.bec1c69c96ca57854780603219cb3db8.JPG

Next i filled as many pits as I could, its not perfect but its better.

IMG_7862.JPG.ff583a57773e6d9c916f59295d1426a6.JPG

IMG_9142.JPG.3ecdb68fdb1517d86c196e3a12f2b1f1.JPG

IMG_7870.JPG.e1b4de94928c2d8adc47120c695f6fef.JPG

Next to look at was the wheels, I knew they weren't in a great shape but they were worse than I expected.

IMG_7872.JPG.17719dfaeefc8a9f3b0491c80ab41f93.JPG

They were full of holes, replacing them isn't really an option as the narrow rims are rare in the UK, we opted to weld the holes and then I used lots of filler. They are a lot better than they were.

IMG_8909.JPG.760f35c26f1f774da0309f5182e36bb3.JPG

The steering wheel was missing so I found one for a cub cadet on the auction site in the US, got it shipped here and now i've repaired it and modified it to fit.

IMG_8140.JPG.a69a038497bfcba6e346cf04d7d46d24.JPG

Another thing that was missing from the RJ was the brake band, We had a cast pulley lying around that was a near exact match to the original casting. It had the same bore and keyway as the original and so I turned it down to the correct dimensions.

This model is my next purchase. I really like the look of them. You certainly have a full restoration project. It's progressing very nicely. Time and patients ....well some cash too helps..lol

I can't wait to see more progress. Nice work!!

Since the chassis and gearbox are now operational i thought i would take a look at the bonnet which was in a very bodged state, fibreglass had been used to reinforce the metal and i thought it must've been in a bad condition underneath all the filler, I managed to file the filler off which revealed just what a state the bonnet was in and then the fibreglass which was on the underside just peeled off as it was stuck to paint and rust.

IMG_9184.JPG.749e7f37a39f05ee65090d35ae753309.JPG

The only way to fix it was to cut the whole section out and weld in fresh metal, it took some bending to make a piece that would fit but its worked well and its now very strong.

Next on the list was to try and get the tractor back on four wheels, the transmission had been fixed so next i needed to make a front axle as it was all missing.
