stevebo-(Moderator) 8,034 #1 Posted February 4, 2017 So I posted in "what's in your mirror" this nice original 1989 520 HC. It came with a really clean 60" deck. I broke the nipple off the fuel pump when as I was changing the fuel line so $14 bucks later the new one arrived in the mail today. Put it on and fired it up. It was too cold today to degrease and pressure wash it but I was able to start buffing the hood with a high cutting compound and it is going to clean up real nice. Good news is the tranny is strong but bad news is the engine runs real strong but puffs a bit. Good news is I have another low hour Onan on the shelf that I can swap out. Hopefully tomorrow it warms up enough that I can pressure wash it. We shall see. 21 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

You are correct and have an eagle eye. They were special ordered from Lowes for the windows on the lower level. Guy came today to install and of course two of the double wide ones were about 12" too short. That is the EXACT reason why I decided to pay them to measure and install. I have a 1988 that I restored about 7-8 years ago and has since become my back up mower. I also used to have my custom 3 point hitch on it. I thought the contractor was gonna cry when I showed him the new granite was 12" too short off HIS measuring sheet. Then they chipped the corner on the new one when they installed it!!! Apparently the Ponds were fond of "pond" skating...This little known add on was designed to keep your safe if you go through the ice while plowing a skating rink for the youngsters... Depending on how deep the water is, you can also hook a boat seat cushion to a winch cable. When the tractor sinks the seat will float, pulling the cable to the surface, providing an easy lift point to haul it back out. The really fancy models are completely water proof, so when the cushion reaches the top it switches the winch on and pulls the tractor out by itself.
