GT22-8 Modifying GT14 to 8 speed and 22hp Predator

Thanks for the feedback. The muffler will need modified or the frame will. One or the other. Or both:-) I am still pondering options but it does seem that flipping it over by cutting it free of manifold flanges and re-welding seems best option if I go route of using stock muffler. I don't like exhaust pointed backwards into me.

I had the same thoughts on the muffler. Ended up making manifold adapters with one inch pipe for pepper pots. Looked long and hard at the big block Honda header pipe that puts the muffler in front of the engine. Was not sure of the fit, but is looked like it would do the job.

I have an idea for manifold and muffler that I'm working on. More on that as plan comes together.

Took advantage of almost 70 degree day to clean out garage and air out tractors.

That allowed me me to dig out my welder and I made some good progress on the seat support stand. As mentioned, with the 8 speed manual, a spacer/adapter  needs to be added. As I plan to use 3 point, I wanted it as strong as the set up was on hydro. Once I got it welded, ground flat and primed I had to use a spare stand to measure out where I needed to drill two mounting holes. Pleased as punch with how it came out. PS, it's obvious my welding skills have atrophied in past 30 years. Grinder had its work cut out for it :-)IMG_0287.thumb.JPG.274bcf471418996ea6ae5d0793687f08.JPGIMG_0297.thumb.JPG.1dddb2e8a21b35e82f31fe0a30fff058.JPGIMG_0299.thumb.JPG.f8c1081a7a2d622868717384320535f1.JPGIMG_0308.thumb.JPG.4ef7afa259d833fafece99d41bb207d2.JPGIMG_0309.thumb.JPG.7db678476d99bb9d17280990a4e1a1e8.JPGIMG_0311.thumb.JPG.dc3f9ec9aa610357fe03119c394943ce.JPG

Super work Aldon. I was texting you yesterday about that bracket to see if you had an extra one. Don't need one now. You'll see why in a little while.

Since winter seems to want to linger a lot longer than I'd like, I'm back to preparing everything so I can proceed at a quicker clip once the weather turns for the better. Came home last night to my new rear tires. Rim blanks and Front Vredstein's are on the way too.

Correct.

Tru-Powers 29x12.5-15

Miller tire blank rims 15-10's are on their way.

i could have cut centers out of the GT14 rim but went with d-series Hubs. The 6 hole new rim centers are also coming from miller tire. They are massive and hopefully will fit without too much surgery.

i know what Kyle is up to so I'm ok with him teasing the rest of you:ychain:

Weather finally getting to point I can get some work done. Problem is I have way too many irons in the fire. I managed to get the fenders and foot treadplates sandblasted and mocked up. Now I can try and determine backspacing and weld up the new centers onto the rim blanks.

I just got a GT-14, and its clear it needs a bit of maintence and repair. I am thinking the first thing I should do is get the engine running smoothly. It bogs down and stalls if I open the throttle too far. So, I want to drain the tank, change the air filter, change the fuel filter and clean the carb this weekend.

However, I am concerned about the availability of replacement parts and gaskets.

I read the K321 manual about servicing the carbs and the only items it mentioned replacing were float nut gasket, the bowl ring gasket, the needles and seats, and the bowl baffle gasket.

I was curious why there were no o-rings mentioned for the adjustment needles. Are there none? And where do you guys get replacement gaskets? I remember someone said that the float nut gasket can be gotten from a hardware store, but what about the bowl ring and baffle gaskets?

My intention was to disassemble and soak the whole carb in aqua seal, but I don't want to dissolve any important rubber parts.

Hello, Looking for a few parts to complete my 1054A restoration I got going on.  From what I can tell, these parts are compatible with 953, 1054, and GT-14 models despite having different part numbers.  Here's a list of what I'm looking for:

      R.H. steering arm: #2733 (GT# 8515)
      Steering shaft: #4885 (GT# 9647)
      Steering wheel: #4875 (GT# 7420)
      Steering cap: #2897 (GT# 7469)

      Thanks,
      Mike
