JAinVA 4,619 #2 Posted January 15, 2017 Thanks for the pictures. One of the worst parts is the random limb breaks. You just have no warning and crash.
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,255 #3 Posted January 15, 2017 Here's a couple more from a friend's place across town. He and I were just talking when he was here for Christmas about something needs to be done with the trees. And your right Jim that is the worst part it sounded like a war zone down our street last night between trees breaking and transformers blowing
JAinVA 4,619 #4 Posted January 15, 2017 Sad part is even after all the ice melts the trees will look like some giant came along ripping off limbs.Makes the trees more prone to insect damage.
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,255 #5 Posted January 15, 2017 Yes it does. We will be feeling effects of this one for a while. Getting ready to go check cattle...will check back in later today
Sparky-(Admin) 19,432 #6 Posted January 15, 2017 Are you without power? Hard to believe with all heavy ice that a power line hasn't come down. Thanks for the pics. Mike.....
JAinVA 4,619 #7 Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) He posted that he had no power but had a welder to supply backup power.Unfortunately his grandparent's genset went down so he had to tow them the welder generator. This was posted on the tail end of the thread I started yesterday.Sounds like his area is getting hit hard. Wishin4a416 2,185 #8 Posted January 15, 2017 Nasty looking stuff. We haven't had one like that in a few years knock on wood. Lots of cleanup ahead. Stay safe.
Ed Kennell 35,576 #9 Posted January 15, 2017 Nasty stuff, but we know you are equipped to handle it.. Good luck and be careful with the clean up Bryce.
Stormin 9,975 #10 Posted January 15, 2017 That looks grim. Fortunately we don't get weather like that.
nigel 150 #11 Posted January 15, 2017 Blimey ime glad we don't get hit like that over here, the cities over here come to a standstill with a couple of inches of snow on the deck, us country folk just carry on but the townies can't handle it
JAinVA 4,619 #12 Posted January 15, 2017 nigel, Ice storms here affect those in the country more so than towns folk.It is mainly due to miles and miles of downed powerlines.Travel problems hit everyone but being in the dark in the cold for days is really terrible.

I feel for you and your neighbors Jim at least ime only 10 miles from the nearest town when our lights go out and powers off I can jump in the truck and go and find some warmth and a pint, it must be a very eerie feeling when that happens for mile after mile
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,255 #15 Posted January 15, 2017 Sorry for not checking in sooner. Phone has been out in the truck charging. Still no power at our house but other side of town just got power so hopefully not too much longer. It's gonna be a long clean up process but our little town always pulls together through things like this. Couldn't ask for a better place to call home
