erickson13455 1 #1 Posted January 12, 2017 Looking for some advice. Went to start the D160 to blow some more snow last night, but the starter just spins. I don't know about these starters, but it seems like it just won't engage. Can the starter be repaired? Does it just need some cleaning and lube. Thanks,
lynnmor 6,698 #2 Posted January 12, 2017 Sounds like the starter drive. You might get lucky and just clean and oil it, or you may have to get a drive kit. Check eBay for a possible source.
Ben Drinkin 9 #3 Posted January 16, 2017 It might just be that some snow dust has gotten into the bendix and its frozen up. My onan does this with some regularity when the tempurature is just right. Try putting a heat lamp near the starter for a while and see if that helps. But please be careful, a little heat is good, a lot of heat catches stuff on fire. erickson13455 1 #4 Posted January 20, 2017 Well it did warm up here for a few days, 35+ degrees. The old onan fired right up. I have to guess that it was frozen. When it parked it last I did blow snow for a good hour, and it was windy, so some water could have gotten in there, then froze up. Thanks!
