K341 16hp only runs when key is in off position

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I recently put a 16hp motor in one of my old girls, a 79. The motor runs great but only when the switch is in the off position. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We will need additional information...What tractor, what engine was in it originally?

Probably the wrong ignition switch due to the engine swap.

:WRS: It sounds to me like you may either have the wrong ignition switch or that your switch is wired wrong. My first question would be, do you have a magneto ignition or an automotive style coil with points.

Presuming you have a Magneto ignition system your ignition switch may not be grounded and the seat or PTO safety switches are not right. Was this a battery ignition prior to the switch over and now a Mag; or visa-versa.

Take a look at these basic ignition diagrams and see what may not be correct.

341 should be battery ign. Maybe the Tractor was a Tecky electronic?

Thanks for the diagram, after viewing it looks like I do have the wrong switch. Thank you so much for your help!
