My son (9 years) and I are starting a winter project. we picked up a Lawn Ranger and hope to get it running in time for the show in June.

We got started immediately takeing it apart in preparation for a restoration.

The gear box is filled with naptha. 100_1275.jpg

With it mounted like this I can rotate it around to help clean it up inside with out haveing to open it. (I hope)100_1276.jpg

It time to get busy cleanning things up for painting. I ask my son to stay out of the shop for awhile. I don't want to expose him to the dust and chemicals(it is already to late for me, my brain is already messed up). He will be invited back in at assemble time.

Just a little tip, clamp the trans to a bench, put a pulley on a large drill bit, clamp the drill to the bench with a belt on the pullies... then, set the speed of the drill slow (you can use a zip-tie on the trigger and let her run... really cleans them up. and you don't even need a running tractor!

Nice looking Ranger by the way! :D You putting a Kohler on it? :hide: :hide:

Thanks guys. I have a Tecumseh H-60 that I will be putting on it. I'll need to locate a fuel tank and belt guard but most everything else on the tractor looks useable.
