No experience with this engine to know if this is a good fix. Hopefully someone has done this and will respond.

Is the weep hole on the bottom...it has to be to work right.  Notice the little hole on the bottom side.  If that hole is toward the top...it is your problem.  :)

Have you taken the breather valve apart, cleaned all parts, and reassembled properly?    Garrys link shows this process.

Low compression can cause oil to come out the breather. You can add better filter inside to help keep the oil inside the crank case.

I make my own out of scotch bright pads.

I just went through this with a k161 on my old tiller. Had no problems with oil leakage from the breather until I changed the oil. Everything with the breather assembly was correct. Turns out that I had overfilled it with oil. I discovered this after looking up the oil capacity in the Kohler manual, then draining and measuring how much I had added. My engine does not have a dipstick, just a fill plug. Apparently if you fill to the bottom of the fill plug, its overfilled. I forget the amount of oil the manual calls for, but after measuring that amount and adding it to the crankcase, the leak went away. Good luck.

Double check this. The Kohler manual says 2.5 pints (1.2 liters) of oil. I suggest draining and measuring how much is in there. It's probably overfilled. If I remember correctly, the full oil level is not above the oil pan gasket. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Jake, any luck on the source of your oil leak?

yes ,the filter was very worn out and it did not retain the oil from the the breather housing.
