Hmm...might have to try a bit of your methods on my Commando 8. I think I have more patina or surface rust tho.

Wet sanding will take care of that surface rust..

Looks like another nice score. I love the short frames... Looks like you might have a front tire that is kicked out a little?:scratchead:

The mid 60s tractors are nice little machines and perfect for plowing snow.

I decided to take the plow off and put the 520 rear rims with ags on the tractor. Huge difference.

Just look at the shine on that old tractor!  I would NOT have believed it!

And to look at the rear now!  Wow!

I found a nice original and correct seat from A to Z here in the vendor section. They are shipping that so it will go right on as soon as I get it. The other thing in the works is to repaint the front rims and swap out the old tires for a new set of tri ribs. The tranny shifts nice and smooth but the seals seem tired and leaking a bit. I have a rebuilt 4 speed that is ready to drop in should the leaking becomes an issue.

Steve [   The tranny shifts nice and smooth but the seals seem tired and leaking a bit.]     try using Lucas tranny stop leak I found it stops leaks and make it shift nice and smooth. It beats heating up the hubs and banging on them or  possible busting the hubs. I usually put in about 20/30% of this when changing out the fluids. just my:twocents-02cents:.

Just a quick update. This motor runs good but smoked more than I liked so I found a nice rebuilt 8 from an 854 from a member here. I tried to surprise my boy on his 10th birthday by doing the engine swap. I got er done.

That 857 looks great.  And that 50ish Chevy in the background looks mighty good also and it's even in the right color palette!!!

John-

That is a 6hp. It has spark but we could not get it to fire. I am going to swap the starter generator over as the one on it is no good. If I can get it to run I think it has a home on the boy's hot rod.
