New To Me 702

Recommended Posts

That is an awesome find and Cindy looks right "at home" on that little gear slammer!  Can't wait to see it in person and to attend some shows/ M&G's/ and certainly plow days with you guys and that cool horse.  It looks great in the pics but if momma wants it Candy Apple--I think that is what it should be!  We even have a favorite Berlin resident who is definitely up to the task if you can work out a deal with him😉.  Love the duals and the overall stance of that machine.  What did Cindy have to say about it when she first saw it?  I think you, Cindy, Ryan, and his family need to stage a Christmas photo with you all and the best of your horses:greetings-clappingyellow:

That is a sweet looking tractor! Good to see Cindy's interest in the Horses. Now when she goes to shows with you I'll bet that is the first one on the trailer.

That looks great. I agree with you about the paint but also with Jack. If that's what the wifey wants, that's what the wifey gets. :teasing-whipyellow:

Awesome looking 702 Jim, and with my wife I had to buy her a brand new SUV in candy apple red yesterday so maybe a paint job won't set you back as much me :snooty:...Jeff.

Nice score on the 702.  And I like the tire setup, i.e. tri-ribs in front and dual ags in the back.  Your 702 looks great.  Nice.

Thanks T-Mo....most of the work was Tom's doings. He was going to let it go without the duals but looks & works too nice with the duals so I coughed up the extra $$. Thinking the duals would look nice on the RJ but no ...they stay were they are!  Kinda wish I woulda coughed up for the hub caps as well!

@stevasaurus Looks like your 702 seat sets higher than this one, what's up with that? This one does have the rub marks on the fenders like my RJ, presumably from us the heavier set guys! You know what they say ...got a good tool better put a shed over it! Going to try spacing it up ... spacers under the seat and/or where the seat spring bolts to tranny?? Anyone ever try re-bending the spring??

Also noticed Tom @Shynon that the lift lever doesn't stop in the full forward position and rubs on the S/G belt guard. Anyone got any fixes for this ...I haven't looked at it closely enough to figure anything out...too busy running it! Hopefully I get other projects out of the way this winter and get it into the shop to play with.

Just read in another thread you have a 2x4 under the seat?!?!?

Nope, nothing different for the seat on the 702.  The 2 x 4 is on the 857.  The 702 should be the same height as yours.  :)

I added a hockey puck under my 401 seat to raise it up about an inch.  Longer bolt and you're all set.

I added a 1/2" spacer between the seat and spring on my Rat Rod to keep the seat off the fenders.

Very nice 702 , those duals really set it off . Just think what a candy paint job and a chrome stack would look like . Pretty :wicked: in my book . Congrats  :greetings-clappingyellow: !

I have a 702 with a blade and Mower thay has been sitting for a couple years so I thought if I was going to get it going I may as well do it right.  I don't have a lot of time and was hoping someone could refer me to someone that does restorations.  I'd like to get the tractor back in good running condition so just a mechanical restoration and some clear coat to preserve the patina.  I'm in northern Illinois if anyone knows of someone to refer me to.  Thanks in advance for the advice.
