what is your favourite wheel horse

Recommended Posts

RandyLittrell

I am new to wheel horses and like my 1277 with loader a lot, and have a 401 on the way to me.

What I really think I want is a round hood, front motor gear drive, with a kohler.  Not sure what # tractor that is yet!!

For me it's my 1977 B-60. It isn't original anymore but it was my first horse so it's special to me. :)

Most guys will be picking something that's in their shed/garage right now....but not me. I'm partial to the Black-Hoods (1980-1984). Hands down my favorite series. I'm currently in the market for a couple tractors and one is a hydro Black Hood (the other is an 854 or close to it).

I've owned a lot of Black Hoods but currently have none in my stash :-o !

Mike...........

Mike it sounds like you need to busy on these  B/Hoods. They are calling you.

Jim there is one in Vt. Looks to 90% original? Just saying.

OK, since we are posting pics. How about a pic of my 1277? It is the only one I currently have in my stable.

I would have to say that my favorite model that I currently own would be my 1277...it was my first Wheel Horse and will always have a special place in my heart, sadly it's sitting in the back corner right now waiting on a new engine, so I have to make do with seat time on my wife's Commando V8. But my favorite model I'm currently looking for would be a C160 and my dream tractor (even though some say it's not a true Horse) is a D250, just something about their size really draws my attention.

While that may indeed be a fine tractor and perhaps your favorite overall, the thread is "What's your favorite Wheel Horse". So even if the 318 is your favorite overall, you should be able to stay intellectually honest and tell us what your favorite horse is. BTW, From all I've seen, the 318 is a good choice.

I love 'em all ...

It's sort of funny , for a lot of years I was about the only one that owned a 1277 , then had two....now they are coming out of the woodwork again , lol .

I sold this one earlier this year -

My steadfast worker and my first 'Horse...

I also have a '74 C-160 (bad rod, block is cracked - not rebuildable, need to find an engine) , '73 16 Auto (current mower/worker) and a '74 D-180 w/6-1142 56" blade . Every one of them can out work just about anything short of a compact farm tractor around here...

I don't have any of these yet but I'm working on it!

I really want a GT14 and a D series.  The black hoods have also REALLY started to grow on me!
