What is a fair price for a 1045?

Recommended Posts

Have a running 1045 to sell, with mower deck and snowblower. 10 Hp Kohler engine. Bought new, one owner, belongs to my in-laws. Location: Indianapolis. What would be a fair price?

The belt guard may say 1045, but the tractor pictured is not a 1045.  A true 1045 would have the round rear fenders, different tank stand and different PTO engagement (a foot pedal and not a lever).  That tractor looks like a big block and is probably a '66 or later model.  Other experts can render their opinion on which model this tractor truly is.

I don't' think they came with hood mounted faucets either.

I'm sorry I couldn't help myself.  Seriously, the tractor looks like it's in good shape and someone will surely grab it.  As far as a fair price, it's worth what someone is willing to pay.  Probably $300-500 range.

I've seen fewer 1046's than 1045's.  If that sucker is in original condition (minus the seat), then WOW!

If I was selling it, I wouldn't take $500 for it if it was that nice of an original.

I would think,  at least in my area,  (WI) with all the extras and great condition I wouldn't take less than 750.00

I don't think I've ever seen a 1046.  Cool!

I didn't look closely enough at the belt guard to notice that it's a 1046!  It is indeed rarer than a 1045.  I would love to buy it from you, but I'm out of space and out of money.  I agree that a price of $500-700 is probably appropriate just for the tractor due to its rarity and condition.  This tractor is so rare that many Wheel Horse collectors didn't even know it existed until someone produced a service bulletin that mentioned the 1046 model.  I believe it's even rarer than the 754.

P.S.  If you do want to sell it, please let me know.  I might be able to swing a deal and hide it from the wife.

Now you guys are just talking the price up for all us Hoosiers!!!!

I'd say $500-$600 if it runs as it looks.

Looks like a real nice original.

Builld quantity (as with most models) is unknown.  The 1046 an extremely short run model though. They never even made a manual for it. Only documentation was a parts list that had the engine differences from the 1056.

Toro - WheelHorse SnowBlower fits “XT” Models.  Model 79483 Serial 240000164. In great shape, has high chute, wide kit installed and has belt.  Skids show little to no wear, so I’m guessing not used much.  SnowBlower only.  No mule drive or lifting hardware.
      $250/BRO

For Sale NOS M12S Short Block, still in the original box.  I bought it pre-emptively when Kohler was phasing out the Magnums.  Thought I would have it on hand if one of mine needed it, or maybe I would find a tractor with a busted rod for cheap.  Neither of those things happened, the darn things just keep running.

Part number 77 522 35, probably built in late '05, it's the combination replacement kit Kohler made to fit WheelHorse or Gravely, machined to bolt directly into the Gravely transaxle, but also has spacers to mount WheelHorse PTO clutch/brake.  Also has a bunch of gaskets and seals packed with it, probably all you need to install it.

And it's heavy, so it's not practical for me to ship.  Buyer arrange to pick up near Elida OH, I can lift it about knee high to help load.

Asking $800 or might consider trade for a good center mount grader blade.

Tractor features Kohler 16hp cast iron engine, gently used 42" deck, concrete wheel weights, tire chains, new Chinesium carburetor, fuel lines and filter, new air filter, 2 new fwd/rev cams.  A starter,  some new gaskets, and miscellaneous parts.  New drive belt and all the belt idler assemblies.  Engine runs but smokes.  Great restoration candidate or a spare engine for you pullers out there.  Call, text or email for a private showing.   No offers considered unless made in person.  Buyer responsible for transportation.  Many more pictures to send to interested persons.
