Engine cradle?

Recommended Posts

Got a c-81 with the isolation engine cradle, may need to replace the engine. Have a 77,b-80 with a decent k181, and a nos m8, will ether fit if I remove the cradle, if so anything special I need for the swap?

Both will fit. The M8 has electronic ignition so the ignition switch has to be changed, with other minor wiring changes.

The belt covers were different on the B-80, so you will need to save the belt guides off the old engine.

Ok, m8 has 2 wires one from regulator and the other from mag-coil (kill wire) I my put the m8 in the b-80 and  the b-80 engine in c-81, both look to have the same wiring. What will I need and how do I connect the m8? Please keep it simple.

Wiring is not my strong point, thus my name-clueless. Chris.

I copied this the other day for future reference. Maybe it will help.

The chart above is for a battery ignition. The M8 is magneto and a completely different wiring set up. I will try to post a simple diagram later.

I took the liberty of redrawing the Ignition portion of the great drawing HD-Horse posted to make it a mag. drawing. Keep in mind you will need a new ignition switch that will ground out the "M" terminal rather than putting 12 volts on the coil.

Cool! Saved that one too. Had kind of a Where's waldo moment looking for the differences!
