Huntemcd 239 #1 Posted August 28, 2016 My dads suburban he picked up for $100. It didn't have the original motor. The guy said it needed transmission work but my dad fixed it by getting the shifter in the fork right and putting gear oil in it. Shifts perfect now. He then bought a Kohler k91 to stick on it. wallfish 15,905 #4 Posted August 28, 2016 Your Dad's suburban is a 1961 551. Original engine might be that Lauson/Tecumseh that's on it if it's an H55.
