'67 Lawn Ranger Rebirth

Recommended Posts

Wildhorse

So after 20 years of owning this ranger I finally decided it was time for restoring her. This tractor has been a worker and mowed with full time, easy to maneuver around tight spots and fun to ride. Previous owner had painted parts so there was no original nostalgia left as far as true original. I'll keep updating progress and this will be at Big Show next year. I'm leaving all the battle scars on it and not using any body filler. This will still be a worker and not a trailer queen.

Looking very nice.

Looking forward to more photos of the progress.

I too would love to have a Lawn Ranger...They are so "cute" and a very abled tractor for working!

Thanks! Yes they actually handle a lot of work for a smaller tractor and can pull quite a bit.

Nice work! Makes me want to pull mine out of the shed & get back working on it. Maybe wintertime!

Thanks! I thought these lights would go good with and fit in with the time period of tractor even though it didn't have lights originally. They are Harley tail lights and really fit nice.

Had to fabricate new tie rods since the originals on tractor had ends stamped in and were not replaceable. Used 1/2" round stock and tie rod ends from wheelhorseman.

I used the ones it came with when I bought it. I'm not sure what there off of. I will put the correct hubs and wheels on when I find a good pair.

Picked up original front wheels and tires plus steering wheel today from 420lse. Huge thank you to him for parts! Met another red square member today also when I picked up parts. Very nice guys. Now to paint wheels and steering wheel so I can finish the Ranger.

Ok obvious new guy question  is a lawn ranger the same as a suburban with small wheels? What's the difference other than The wheels?

Thanks. I bought them from another RS member. Just needed to sand and paint wheels and scrub the tires. It took me awhile to find a pair. :text-thankyoublue:

The suburban is closer related to the RJ's. They have engine mounted between legs ( aka "nut roasters" ) and used Kohler engine. The ranger has a Tecumseh and different front axle along with different hood. The ranger also offered electric start which is my model L157 and yes the front and rear wheels are different 8" rears and 4" fronts on ranger compared to the 6x12 rears and 8" fronts on the suburban. The only two things the same would be frame and transmission which have a little subtle difference also. I'm no expert by any means and maybe somebody else will chime in with more info.
