1984 GT1100 Thrust Bearing

Recommended Posts

R2D2B9

Hi,

I have a 1984 GT-1100 Work Horse (Model A1-11B801).  The Thrust Bearing on the engine (B&S 11HP) has went bad and is no longer available from Toro.  Does anyone have suggestions as to where I can source a new bearing?  Possibly a generic bearing part number or a compatible bearing from another model Wheel Horse?

Also the failure caused the keyway in the engine shaft to wear.  Has anyone had success with repairing this type of damage with Loctite 660 or similar?

Enjoy the attached pictures.

Thanks

Often wondered what that bearing is. As the need to repower increases I can see this system becoming a requirement on today's engines.

It was once stated that the 106499 bearing was a 6007-2RSNR but I have no idea if this is correct. I'm thinking it is an angular contact design for thrust loads.

How to install with the necessary preload.

As far as the shaft , I don't know what to tell you :confusion-shrug: . Back in the day , I crossed referenced many bearings . Allis Chalmers and New Idea had some great cross reference books. You could go by manufacture and numbers stamped on bearing (you may need magnifying glass to read) or by measurements of the bearing . If we didn't have it , or couldn't order it through A.C. or N.I. we called Detroit Ball Bearing . This was before internet  :techie-typing: . If you can get that info I'm sure there's some companies that could help you out . Their just a few clicks away on your keyboard .

AC unfortunately the bearing I have is worn on both sides so there is no hope of getting any numbers off of it to cross reference with.  The number 6007-2RSNR Gwest posted looks like a similar bearing to the one with the toro p/n I could find on ebay.  I will have to measure what's left of the original bearing and the bore in the drive pulley and see if it matches up with the standard bearing's dimensions.

Is there any need for the version with the snap ring that gwest originally mentioned?

The NR is for a snap ring on the outer race. There is a groove in the race to accommodate the ring. Other than that the bearing is identical to a 6007-2RS so an NR bearing can be used by leaving the ring off.

My question - is the NR with ring required for this application or will a plain 6007-2RS do the job? Have never ever seen this application so don't know how it goes together.

Any idea if it matters which way the thrust bearing plate goes?  I'd like to flip it over so the worn side is facing the engine instead.  Also looking at the assembly drawing it appears it should go the opposite way it was installed on my engine, so flipping it might be good.  The plate has left quite the impression on the side of the engine, hopefully this will not cause wear issues in the future? It seems this is what the pre-load service bulletin is trying to address.

If I remember correctly,  you have to grind off one of the corners of the plate to flip it. Flipping it does give more life to the plate and bearing.

Been a member for a long while but this is my first time posting. My Father has a 417-A and I believe C series (can't remember off the top of my head but it's from the early 80s) so needless to say they got me into wheel horses and I've wanted my own ever since... Fast forward 15 years later and my wife's late grandfather passed an old GT 1100 down to us. The poor thing sat in his front yard for atleast 8 years... Probably longer going off how old the zeroturn he got to replace it was 👎. Finally got around to messing with it and so far we have spark! Looks like he replaced the throttle cable with an aftermarket unit, the cable is too long and hangs up when trying to choke, my local toro dealer said it's no longer available but did give me the part #109132 I've found one website that offers it but says it's "on order" with no eta... Any suggestions? I'm also trying to find a carb kit, spraying some gogo juice in her got her going but there multiple places on the carb leaking... One of which is a bronze colored ball on the side!? Sorry for the long post and for those that stuck around thanks for reading! If you have any tips, tricks or suggestions that would be much appreciated!

My daughter was using the Wheel Horse rider to mow, I was push mowing.  She drives over to me and says, "Dad, the blades aren't turning." I look at the mower, she's got the blades engaged (lever forward) but nothing is moving.  I disengage the blades, and re-engage... nothing.  No movement from the belt nor clutch.  Then I notice the smell, and look closer, the belt is so hot is melting on the clutch.  Or rather, the clutch is so hot it's melting the belt.  Melting occurred.

While the clutch is disengaged, I can spin the clutch freely; and whilst it's engaged, it won't move.

So, what did I do now?  Peter told me to lube that needle bearing, but I couldn't find a write up/how to anywhere, so I was putting it off until after the leaves were done falling in the Fall.  I haven't taken anything off yet, other than the pins that hold the pinion and such, and the little brake pad.  I see there are two snap rings, assume they come off, and then the assembly slides out as a whole?

Some pictures of the clutch, can anyone tell if it's usable from them?

My 1999 270H with 48” deck is having an issue getting power to PTO.   Checked PTO with jumper to battery and it worked fine and I’ve actually been cutting grass using the jumper for awhile.  I checked power from PTO switch to PTO and there is none.  I checked PTO switch and it appeared OK but I replaced it anyway and still no power to PTO.   Then checked brown/tan wire leading to switch and there is none.   Could the issue be the NMIR module and is there a good way to check it.  If bad, where is the best place to get a replacement and do other brands/models have NMIR a modules I can use.    Also, would suppling battery power directly to PTO switch and bypassing NMIR result in switch working.

Need some help. My 800 Special has an electric PTO. It is not working. Checked Ohms - nothing. My questions are 1) how does the PTO come off and 2) can they be rebuilt? I took the bolt out that I thought holds it on but no luck. Must be something more?

What direction does the front PTO Pulley turn on a wheel horse D180 with a Kohler K482 as you face the front of the tractor?

I want to get a hydraulic pump for a Johnson 10 loader I will be mounting to tractor and want to make sure I get a pump that rotates the correct direction.
