I've lost power

I bought my first wheel horse c125. Been doing a great job towing and cutting.

The other day the clutch Spring broke. I did a temporary fix to cut the grass but was getting slower and slower to the point I had to pull the clutch pedal towards me to get it moving.

I have bought a new spring. But it is still so slow and I have to pull the clutch to me to get it moving at all. Could it be something else ?

Could be a bad belt.

Was the new spring as heavy duty as the old one, They are strong.

I've not tried the belt you. Can that effect the speed. The Spring seems just as strong.

The belt is covered with fabric. If it get degraded the belt can stretch. I would try a new one just to rule it out. Not sure what is available across the pond, but in the absence of a genuine Toro 7473 belt, any Kevlar covered 5/8" x 82" belt works well.

Also check the idler gear for the drive belt. It should spin smoothly without a wobble. Toro 7473 is one of the numbers for it (bought one two days ago when i replaced my C-165 drive belt for the same problems. Works great now!:greetings-clappingyellow:
