Electric Wheel Horse owners check in

Recommended Posts

SolarStallion

Hi Guys,

This is my B-145 that I converted to solar power. I had it at the 2016 Big Show and plan to be there in 2017. This is the only Wheel Horse on Earth that can operate on the Moon & Mars!

Wheel Horse are now interplanetary!

Someone posted pictures of it at the show in another post in this form.

Could you do a wiki on this that explains how / what you did? Very cool!

I am toying with this concept just with a small solar battery tender for my C-105...

He has it listed for $1,400. A little on the high side.

keep in mind, batteries go for $75-100 each, x6, so if it has good batteries, it is worth up to $600 more than one without.

Im going to be paying close attention here. The only bucket list tractor I have is a C-185 electric. I desire one MUCH MUCH more than a 420. People say the D series are the "ugly ducklings" but to me its the Electrics....so darn ugly they're awesome!!

I have two C-185s, I may be looking to sell 1.

Now that we have this section how about letting the rest of us know what you have? pictures would be appreciated.

Here are a few pictures of the E-141 that was a barn find in Ulster County Ny. by a close friend of mine. I also have a D-160 that my dad bought new in the early seventies in Stone Ridge Ny. The E-141 has the original Wheel Horse batteries (the batteries & charger say wheel horse on them) and charger and I never bought new batteries to see if it runs or not. I did buy a owners manual for the E-141 on EBay. The D-160 has a 48" mower deck and a 3 point hitch roto-tiller and lord knows how many hour it has on it and still runs and drives like new. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

With a snow blower no less!  I had a boss who used to have the GE Elec-Trac. Tractor was long gone but he insisted on keeping the snow blower around. Well he built a new shop and we had to move it to an upstairs storage area. He should have installed a hoist! :auto-ambulance::auto-ambulance:

I told my wife NO MORE TRACTORS !  At least for a while. But if one of these came up for sale near me, I may have to renege.

I am curious. How many HP motor?

I'm checking in, I still have the same E-141, but covered up & same Charger 8-1570 Unit , no new pictures but every thing is the same except like I said covered up with (new) movers blankets, any questions? Photos were posted back in 2017. I can re-post them if you are interested. Where are you located?

You will have to forgive my ignorance here, but I am intrigued to say the least. You say it is solar powered. Is it truly solar powered? Do the solar panels provide power to the motor, or do they they simply recharge the batteries?

Thanks  Greg

What voltage does the motor actually run on?

I gotta find me one of those. Ya just don't see them come up for sale around here. Is this tractor new to you, or have you had it a while?

Didn't even know this model existed!

I'm familiar with the GE style but not this.

Nice find!

Handy Don

I'm expecting to see a new wave of e-GT ideas and prototypes using the advances in battery technology and electric motor design/control as a result of the starting-in-California move to get users off gas powered lawn and garden equipment into electric. Saw my first electric snowblower at a big box store Saturday.

I also expect prices to be eye-watering.

Yea I think GE and WH were about 40 years ahead of the game…

I'm sure that's not what most people were saying then, just like most people aren't happy with this old electric technology being reintroduced now.

The solar panel charges the batteries. there are six 6 volt batteries, 36 volt total.
