kj4kicks 151 #1 Posted June 27, 2016 I would like to personally thank everyone who attended the WHCC show and especially those who took the Customs feature tractor theme to the extremes. Most people know my views; I appreciate the history (knowing that we wouldn't be where we are if not for where we have been) and have done several restorations myself. My true passion is building custom machines, taking what Wheel Horse gave us, and pushing the limits of what it can be or what "could have been". I was smiling all week seeing all of the creativity and vision of our members. Kudos to all of you for making the show a huge success, probably the biggest and best show so far. With all of the hot rod versions out there, we as the board of directors were a little concerned going in to this, but were very happy with the behavior of the kids (and the grown-ups) at keeping everyone safe. As for me personally, I'm hoping that we can have customs again someday. Though we don't usually repeat feature tractors, I feel that this is a "model" that is constantly evolving. 19richie66 16,876 #3 Posted June 27, 2016 I think the custom tractors should have their place in every show. Just like muscle cars and street rods, they are constantly evolving. Now you have pro street cars that are so much better and able than what they were stock musclecars and I love them both. Not to say a tractor and a muscle car are made for the same things but they have one thing in common. It's fun to see what you can do to them. I for one appreciate the factory restored tractors but my heart has always been with customizing things. I cannot leave anything alone. I just love making things. Not that I am in the same category as some builders, but I try. I see nothing wrong with picking different years and models for each years show but, I think you will see a lot more customs in the future. I know I have some ideas that I want to try. I hope to make it next year with my creation, and it's far from stock. I guess I will be a year late on the "custom" part of the show. 7 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It's no secret that the custom stuff is my blood as well but IMO the official feature tractor should always be a traditional model and changing it every year gives those owners the opportunity to "feature" their particular tractor. There are so many more traditional tractor owners than custom builders and surely they get just as excited when the model they own is chosen for the featured tractor. The customs will always have their place at the show. People will always bring their creations just as they will always bring their restored tractors and daily drivers no matter what the feature tractor is. The WHCC does a fantastic job of keeping that a safe, fun and family-friendly environment. I commend and applaude you (them) for that! DOC in Kentucky 178 #8 Posted June 28, 2016 WOW!!! What a show!!! I am truly amazed at what I saw this year. The creativity of some members is unbelievable!!! When I think back since my first show in 2008 and see the friendships that have developed and that I am a part of, the restored tractors that have been around for all these years and continue to perform as original as the day they left the showroom floor or in some cases better than original, the comraderie and compassion of grown men playing with these tractors, the exchanging of ideas and parts to keep these tractors performing as new and sometimes better then new, the modifications to improve and enhance there performance and longevity. The Wheel Horse brand is truly a thing of beauty!!! Thank you Cecil Pond and may you rest in peace!!!
