dcrage 621 #1 Posted May 31, 2016 Just saw this on my daily cruise of CL Didn't I read on here, somewhere in the deep dark past, that this was an "option" for 520s??
WHX?? 46,690 #2 Posted May 31, 2016 Don't know if it was an option or not but the way they drink it it should have been!

muz123 1,182 #5 Posted May 31, 2016 I think it was an option back in 88-89 on the 520-HC..
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,025 #6 Posted June 1, 2016 I would love to have a tank like that so I could do away with the under seat tank on my 416-8 and my 310-8. I hate the under seat tanks.
953 nut 51,511 #7 Posted June 1, 2016 To me the add on tank is a disaster waiting to happen, backing into something and having gas splash on to the operator.
AMC RULES 36,941 #8 Posted June 1, 2016 (edited) Originally... they were the metal "D" series tanks. Similar to the one Steve fabbed up here. Edited June 1, 2016 by AMC RULES

elcamino/wheelhorse 9,025 #10 Posted June 1, 2016 Steve has the right idea, I saw a similar ad in a book I gave my uncle a few years ago on small garden tractors . I would like to find a tank that I could use on my 416-8 like the D series tank. Tanks are probably costly and hard to find.
WNYPCRepair 1,875 #11 Posted June 1, 2016 Wow! They are proud of those tanks!!
Pollack Pete 2,273 #12 Posted June 1, 2016 OSHA and lawyers would love those tanks today.
cleat 4,936 #13 Posted June 1, 2016 The brackets and the way the gas tank support connects looks a lot like a rear bagger mount. I have an old rear bagger frame and brackets, looks easy to build a tank support from that. It would be nice to use a quality quick connect system so the tank is easily removable. I forget his name, Terry, maybe?

new horse 44 #16 Posted June 1, 2016 I would love to find this kit to add to my 520, she's VERY thirsty!!
elcamino/wheelhorse 9,025 #17 Posted June 1, 2016 I am going to check out surplus center and other places for a tank. Can not be that hard to mount one behind the seat. Shade tree mechanics can always figure out something.
stevasaurus 22,229 #18 Posted June 1, 2016 I knew we had some pics of that back tank. This is from the 2011 show in LaSueur...picture by Casual Observer. Another one of Jason's pictures from the LaSueur 2010 show.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,478 #19 Posted June 1, 2016 There is a good variety of portable tank sizes available for the marine industry. Attwood also has their own no-drip connector. http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/category/portable-fuel-tanks Garry

parsonsponyz 64 #21 Posted June 4, 2016 One of my new acquisitions had the auxiliary tank already mounted on the rear. All I had to do was replace the hose and filter then fill. I quickly learned that you have to close the shut off valve with the auxiliary tank full and main tank full or gas gets pushed out of the main tank. With all that being said it was nice to fill both tanks and completely mow the lawn knowing there was enough gas, I just opened the auxiliary valve from the seat and kept going. I give this option a thumbs up.
