has anyone seen a tractor with a large black and white checkered flag on the hood, it says official 500 wheel horse race tractor. it is a C-175 I may be possibly buying it as a worker or,  is it a rare tractor that I should restore? it is in great condition,

Go to the "WIKI" link at top of home page. Click on tractors and then scroll down to "500 Special". Click on that and All you need to know about it is on that page...

It would take quite a bit of documentation before any value would be added. Perhaps some photos of it in the pits with a driver and an Indycar.

it doesnt have the 500 special decals on the side of the hood. the sides have the regular C-175. from what I seen of it ( in a garage buried under stuff) it had that large decal on the hood is all.. did the C-175 have a official 500 race tractor, besides the 500 special?  the ID number is 01-17KS02-13661-00-8-1

I don't know. But there are folks on this forum that do. They will want PICTURES since there are so many variations of WH tractors, and of course, because they want pictures....Post them and they will get you your answers - I have no doubt...

looks as though I may have stumbled upon on a rare horse. these tractors were used as promotions by dealers after the races.. so far I have only seen one other official 500 race tractor , which is a C-145.https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10156989740035142.1073741897.564915141&type=1&l=98b1f41333

Fascinating!  I've never seen one of those before.  The picture in the newspaper clipping does give it some legitimacy.  That tractor may be the first one of those Indy 500 specials discovered "in the wild".  Snap it up if you can.

I bought it last week. less then $250.00   :)  the 500 special was 1960's models.  this is 1981.

anyone know the carb adjustment screws. how many turns each? I changed the plugs and its running rough and backfiring.  theres the top, side, and speed screws.

Sorry can not help with carb, check out manual second on Kohler motors should have specs on adjustments. For less than $250.00 sounds like you got one heck of a deal.

Back firing is probably more than a carb adjustment, this manual should help.

Might want to get @Vinylguy to make a copy of the hood flag, for future restoration purposes.  Pretty cool find.
