scoob8000 29 #1 Posted May 25, 2016 Picked up a parts tractor for my 416-H. You should have seen the wife's face when she pulled in as I was unloading it. It's a late 80's 416-8 with a 48" SD deck (mine is a 42"). The deck needs a little welding near the discharge side spindle, ignition switch, and somebody tinkered with the transmission so it pops out of gear and won't go into high range. Front tires are totally shot and won't hold air for more than 5 minutes. But at least the Onan runs and fires right up! Not a bad score for well under $200. Bought for parts, but might fix it up and actually use it.
953 nut 51,464 #2 Posted May 25, 2016 Well worth the price for parts, or a project to look forward to.
Racinbob 10,256 #3 Posted May 25, 2016 Definitely fix her up. You can see what looks like gasket sealer oozing out of the transmission seal. Hopefully they didn't screw it up too bad. I see another transmission thread coming

scoob8000 29 #11 Posted May 26, 2016 I know one thing I meant to ask. Do the engines setup for hydro idle up faster? I noticed this one doesn't sound like it runs as fast at full throttle. I just ordered a cheapo non-contact tachometer to check and compare..
