Suggestions for an acceptable dump cart repair.

Recommended Posts

I have what looks to be a 70s dump cart. The only big issue is the axles gone, replaced with all thread and the wheels are mismatched wheel barrow wheels.

looking for suggestions on an acceptable fix for this. I would love to replace with an original axle and tires, but not sure the likely hood of someone having those parts to sell.

and go...

Front wheels and tires from the same era :wh: will be fine and the axle is just a piece of 5/8 cold rolled round stock. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Thanks :) I can probably get the 5/8 rolled round stock from work.

15" tires at Home Depot that will fit. Mich better than the mismatched wheel barrow wheels that were on it.

Here's my project.

The cart has some rust holes in it, and some rust under the back end.

I bought an axle and some new 15" wheels, but not sure the wheels army overkill for the condition of this cart. Found someone with quite a few Wheel Horse remains in their back yard and not a few tires on rims. May take my chances at getting a pair of tires from there to save some money.

They also have some Kohler engines including a K341 S which the C160 behind the cart needs to get it back to life. Just not sure if any of the motors are any good.

Here it is belly up, just the wheels aren't afixed to the axle.
